研究領域
      本團隊的研究方向主要在嘗試回答生物學中的兩個重要問題:一、生物在生長發育過程中如何做出正確的抉擇?二、生物如何應對環境的變化? 同時,本實驗室也有興趣發展以纖維素為原料產製生質燃油所需的微生物酵素。

調控種子休眠/ 萌芽的荷爾蒙拮抗作用

促進發芽的GA與抑制發芽的ABA這兩種植物荷爾蒙之間的交互作用,調控了種子由休眠過渡到發芽的過程。因此針對此調控機制的研究,本團隊除了探討GA 、ABA個別的訊息傳導,也同時探討兩種荷爾蒙之間的交互作用。

逆境蛋白質的功能

      由於植物不能移動無法逃避逆境,植物傾向於藉由改變基因表現以應付環境的變化。然而,許多逆境誘導的蛋白質功能尚未被研究。本團隊目前研究的逆境蛋白包括HVA1(屬於LEA蛋白質)、HVA22(計畫性細胞死亡的抑制蛋白)以及一個具高量脯氨酸的醣蛋白RePRP。這些逆境蛋白質對水稻根部的發育及功能是目前研究的重點。

開發由纖維素衍生出之生質燃料(cellulosic biofuel)相關的微生物酵素

      本研究室另外致力於發現、改進及應用微生物的纖維素分解酵素在分解農業廢棄物如稻桿、甘蔗渣於生質燃料的生產。研究的酵素種類包括endo-glucanase 、exo-glucanase及β-glucosidase ,已經從台灣本土微生物及昆蟲分離並選殖到數個具有高活性且穩定的酵素。目前正進行這些蛋白質結構與其酵素功能的關係研究,以提供未來改進這些酵素的基礎。
