    細胞分化的基因調控

    多細胞生物的最大特點是在於細胞間的分工合作。不同的細胞,職司不同的專業工作,例如:消化細胞-分泌消化酵素;神經細胞-傳道電流訊號等。如果沒有細胞間的分工合作 ,那麼每一個細胞就必須要同時能執行這些所有的工作,所造成的結果,將是有如一個建築師要同時擔任水泥工與水電工的工作,工作的細緻程度,將大大的減低。

    細胞分化的過程主要發生再胚胎發育的時期,單細胞的授精卵,在卵內的不同區域,儲存了不同的調控因子的蛋白質或mRNA這些調控因子在緊接而來的快速卵裂過程中分配至不同的子細胞中 ,因此使他們產生初步的分化,這些細胞間,這些細胞間可以進行彼此間的交談與對話,並且告訴對方,去進行下一步的分化,細胞於是就是這樣的一步一步的走向最終的分化路徑 。

       本實驗室的工作專注於了解前驅細胞-幹細胞走向,可執行特定工作的終極分化細胞的過程中,轉錄調控因子,對細胞品係決定基因以及分化後的功能基因上啟動子 ,或其他調控單元的調控機制的分析。目前已建立的研究平台有肌肉細胞的分化系統以及胚胎癌幹細胞的品系決定系統。
